Revitalizing Parental Roles Through Digital Parenting Strategies to Build a Resilient Golden Generation at SMA MBS Al Amin Bojonegoro
Abstract
The disruption of the digital era has fundamentally altered the structure of family interactions, where gadgets often supersede face-to-face communication, precipitating phenomena of gadget addiction among adolescents. Within the environment of SMA MBS Al Amin Bojonegoro, many parents remain entrapped in the "digital native" myth, assuming that children are automatically capable of filtering negative technological impacts without guidance. This community service initiative aims to educate guardians regarding the urgency of digital literacy and to transform traditional parenting styles into effective Digital Parenting. The implementation method employs a persuasive and educational approach through a series of workshops, Focus Group Discussions (FGD), and simulations for creating a "Family Digital Contract". The results indicate a critical need for a paradigm shift from authoritarian or permissive parenting toward Authoritative (democratic) parenting, which balances firm control with emotional warmth. This program recommends that parents actively assume roles as coaches and role models to align character education at home with the school's vision, thereby preventing the emergence of a "lost generation" due to destructive technological influences.
